The Jacksonville Jaguars have benched quarterback Blake Bortles, possibly for good. With Cody Kessler slated as the starter on Sunday, Bortles is facing an uncertain future in Jacksonville, and he sounded like a man who thinks he might have played his last game with the Jaguars when discussing the situation on Wednesday, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN: “I’m not in charge of the decisions that are made. I obviously put myself in this position and forced their decision to be made. But at the end of the day, they’re in charge of making those personnel decisions and, if it’s a competition, or if it’s ‘see you later, you’re out of here,’ whatever it is, I love playing football and would love the opportunity to play again.” We heard earlier in the season that some of Bortles’ teammates want him left in the past. It wouldn’t be a shock if the Jaguars’ brass agrees at this point, and he may be looking for a new job next season.
