Wiggins: No love lost for booing Minnesota fans

Andrew Wiggins went 5-of-12 from the stripe in an OT loss to the Hawks and heard about it from a frustrated home crowd. Wiggins didn't take the boos kindly. "We've got some s---ty fans, and we've got some good fans. That's just how it works," he said. Get Articles and ICO whitepapers written by Williams Alfred Onen

MLB's top 20 remaining free agents

Since free agency opened across Major League Baseball on Oct. 29, nearly half of MLBTR’s top 50 available players have come off the board. Twenty-three of those players have landed new contracts, leaving 27 without teams as the New Year approaches.  Based on the original rankings compiled by MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes, Steve Adams and Jeff Todd, here’s a look at where the 20 best free agents remaining stand as 2018 nears an end: 1. Bryce Harper, OF (Original prediction: 14 years, $420M): With Scott Boras as his agent, it’s unsurprising that Harper – who may be in line for a record-setting contract – remains unsigned. As you’d expect, there have been no shortage of offseason rumors centering on the 26-year-old Harper, who has been connected to his only team to date – the Nationals – as well as the Dodgers, Phillies, Braves, Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Yankees and White Sox over the past couple months. On paper, the most logical landing spot for the superstar may be Los Angeles, which jettisoned p

Jags' Tom Coughlin admonishes Fournette, Yeldon for 'selfish' behavior

Jacksonville Jaguars VP Tom Coughlin issued a statement on Sunday admonishing Leonard Fournette and TJ Yeldon for their behavior during Sunday’s game. The Jags offered little resistance in a 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. Fournette was inactive for the game, while Yeldon was active but did not play. Both players spent most of the game on the bench, even during offensive possessions, according to Daniel Popper. In a statement, Coughlin called the players “disrespectful” and “selfish” for their behavior. The Jaguars have been nothing short of a mess this season. Expected to be a contender in the AFC, they completely fell apart after a strong early start and have shown very little pride while falling to 5-11. They’ve had players fighting in the locker room and they had some arrests in London. They’re a mess and need to clean things up. That seems to be Coughlin’s intention. Report: Kliff Kingsbury a top candidate to be next Houston head coach

Houston officially announced on Sunday that head football coach Major Applewhite has been fired after two seasons with the team, and the school appears to be intent on making a big splash to replace him. Brett McMurphy of Stadium reports that two of the leading candidates to replace Applewhite are Dana Holgorsen and Kliff Kingsbury. Houston was linked to Holgorsen before Applewhite was officially fired, with a report indicating the Cougars are keeping their eye on the West Virginia coach and believe he could consider leaving his current job. Holgorsen’s buyout drops to $1 million after the New Year, and he is losing two of his top players in Will Grier and David Sills. The Mountaineers' coach was also an offensive coordinator with Houston previously. Kingsbury would likely be another popular hire, and the expectation is that he will eventually land another head coaching job after he signed on to join USC’s staff as an assistant. The 39-year-old was fired by Texas Tech last month af

Samsara banks $100M at a $3.6B valuation for its internet-connected sensors

Sensor data platform Samsara confirmed this morning that it had closed a new round of funding from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst that values the startup at $3.6 billion. The news was first reported by Cheddar , which spotted a filing with the state of Delaware on December 21 disclosing Samsara’s intent to raise a $100 million round at more than double the valuation it garnered upon its $50 million Series D  this March. “Our growth comes from bringing transformational new technologies to solve the problems of operational businesses, a massive segment of the economy that has long been underserved by the technology industry,” wrote Kiren Sekar, Samsara’s vice president of marketing and products, in the funding announcement. “Today, the advent of inexpensive sensors, high-bandwidth wireless connectivity, smartphones, and cloud computing enable these businesses to fully reap the benefits of 21st century technology.” Founded in 2015, Samsara supports the tr

Capsicum launches a beautiful daily planner for iOS

Calendaring and note-taking apps have never really filled the void left behind when we moved away from our old, paper-based daily planners to digital devices. But a newly launched iOS app called  Capsicum may help to change that. Like real-world daily planners from years ago, Capsicum lets you not only track your events and to-dos, it also offers a place to track other things not tied to a specific date and time — like your larger, longer-term goals, journal entries and even your daily habits — like whether you made it to the gym, or remembered to take your vitamins.  The idea for the app comes from U.S. software engineer Ish ShaBazz, who was featured in the 2017 documentary “App: The Human Story,” and Australian designer Heidi Helen Pilypas. Both love beautiful planners and iOS apps, so around three years ago, they decided to work on a project that has now become  Capsicum.  The app’s name refers to a bell pepper, which is why it’s in the logo. However, the name was chosen because

911 emergency services go down across the US after CenturyLink outage

911 emergency services in several states across the U.S. went down after a massive outage at a CenturyLink data center. The outage began after 12pm ET on Thursday,  according to CenturyLink’s status page , and caused disruption across 911 call centers through Friday. Some states saw their services restored throughout the day. CenturyLink did not sy what caused the outage beyond an issue with a “network element,” but said around 11am ET on Friday that the company said that it was “ seeing good progress, but our service restoration work is not complete.” After 8pm on Friday, more than a day later, CenturyLink confirmed that “all consumer services impacted by this event, including voice and 911, have been restored.” CenturyLink, one of the largest telecommunications providers in the U.S., provides internet and phone backbone services to major cell carriers, including AT&T and Verizon. Data center or fiber issues can have a knock-on effect to other companies, cutting out service and
